Person extraordinaire.
My husband makes amazing roasted brussels sprouts that are the perfect combination of crispy and soft and salty. But if you don't have the pleasure of dining at our house, you can find equally delicious ones at Park Tavern in San Francisco.

I must have tried a dozen different approaches/products to cut my first daughter's nails. Once I found these, I became obsessed, because they make cutting my children's nails so much easier. I have given them to nearly every expectant new mother whose shower I've attended.

Simply the best cheddar cheese ever.

I love everything about this painting: the peace and intimacy of the scene, the balance of foreground and background detail, the pop of red from the parasol in front of the banana palm (a favorite). I don't think I have ever visited the de Young Museum in San Francisco without making a point to go see this dear old friend.

I will admit that I'm obsessed with this chai. First of all, they default to whole milk which is the only way to do lattes, just for the record. But more importantly, when we moved from San Francisco to Boston, I went on a city-wide search for its replacement and nothing held a candle. Multiple phone calls were made, many questions were asked, photos were taken (courtesy of confused/weirded-out baristas), specialty orders were made, and now I finally have a three-pound bag of the chai concentrate in my pantry, enabling me to find this little taste of happiness in my very own kitchen. It's no secret: the concentrate is the Professional Blend 'Power Chai' Concentrate from David Rio.

This is probably the only book (technically, play) that I have read over and over and over and over. It's so clever and so funny and so sweet and so ridiculous. The movie version from 2002 (Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, Reese Witherspoon) is well done, too.

My favorite movie ever. It's so real and yet so silly. But the way that the characters relate to each other and the issues that they wrestle with in the context of their suppressed super-hero lives are relate-able and entertaining.

This girls' summer camp in Vermont is on a pedestal, in my opinion. Happy memories.

I interrupted my reading with out-loud exclamations, gasps, and 'did you know...?' questions, etc. unlike with any book I've read before or since. Fascinating, scary, angering, disgusting, inspiring -- this book was all of those. It launched a minor obsession of mine with reading about food issues, food politics, the 'big agg' industry, farming, etc.

This one-act opera is my favorite all time. Powerful music, tragic story. I love, love, love it.

Carmel Blue is a baby store and parenting center, but more than that it is a community of families tackling parenting in urban San Francisco. Sharone, the owner, is an amazing resource for all things parenting -- whether it's prenatal yoga and natural birth planning, newborn care guidance and new parent groups, gifts and essentials for babies, or music class for toddlers.

I think this has got to be the tastiest, creamiest, purest vanilla ice cream that exists. Five ingredients: cream, skim milk, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Can't beat it (especially with fresh strawberries)!
